Why drink an infusion of bay leaves?

Preparing a bay leaf infusion is, above all, about giving yourself a moment of peace. Its subtly woody and comforting aroma naturally invites relaxation. When enjoyed hot, this infusion is often associated with a feeling of digestive comfort, relaxation, and inner calm.
Some people incorporate it into their evening routine to promote a transition to rest, while others prefer it in the morning to start the day gently. The key is not the promise of spectacular results, but the regularity and intention one puts into this wellness ritual .
The necessary ingredients
To prepare this simple and natural infusion, you need very little:
- 1 liter of water
- Approximately 30g of dried bay leaves
- Optional: a teaspoon of honey to sweeten.
Choose high-quality leaves that are well-dried and come from a reliable source to fully enjoy their aromas.
The preparation, step by step
- Start by pouring 1 liter of water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
- Once the water is simmering, add the bay leaves.
- Let them infuse for 5 to 10 minutes over low heat , without excessively prolonging the heating in order to preserve their aromas.
- Then remove the pan from the heat, cover and let it rest quietly for another 5 minutes . This resting time allows the flavors to fully infuse.
- Filter the mixture, then pour the infusion into a cup.
You can drink it plain, to fully appreciate its flavor, or add a little honey if you like sweeter notes.
