A heart attack occurs when the walls of the arteries become blocked by deposits of cholesterol, lipids, or inflammatory cells, preventing the heart from receiving a sufficient blood supply.
The signs and symptoms of a heart attack are:

- Shortness of breath.
- Cold sweat.
- Pressure, tightness, ache; or a squeezing or aching sensation in the chest or arms; which may spread down the neck to the jaw or back.
- Dizziness or lightheadedness.
- Fatigue.
